VIPER. Mammon. Marmon. « Thread Started on Jul 22, 2009, 3:37pm »
Ever since I got back to Deviantart I've been doubting Viper's real gender. He-She-It sounds female, looks like a female in adult form (see newest episode or newest images for the "strongest seven"), but everything online has "him" as a male? Unless you can read and understand Japanese, translations hold no real truth to them. So, what is Viper?
I didn't read the manga during the Varia Arc, but I watched the anime version, which was in my country's language and they never used "he" or "she".xD They used another words which can refer to either gender or 'it'. ('mun' and 'jao nun')(Tsu-kun and Yama-kun may get this). Though I hardly ever seen those words used for the female gender. I'm think I'm just gonna go with male on this one. Maybe I can find a japanese scan of the manga and ask my friend to translate it cause she knows japanese.
Okay, my guess is that Viper's a guy. I have no idea why, we never looked at... Whatever he/she/it is' face but his body when in normal (non-midget) form seems like a guy's one. Although he looks 50% girl. O__O
Now, I'd normally say he, besides everyone are referring to him as a he. But now that I have the option to say so, I'm with Mifuyu on this. XD
At this rate, I will believe Viper to be an IT. I'll have to wait till January to see what the Americas (means english version of the manga) have to say about it. (Gah.. They're slow with updating the manga there...)

So many 'it'. Maybe Viper really is an 'it'. lol I'm gonna start to believe that 'he' really is an 'it' soon too.xD Guess we'll just have to wait until the later episodes to see. At least I hope that they will reveal more about him and show 'him'/'it' without the hood on. Let me see ya face!

Marmon is a very feminine name whereas Viper is a masculine name. It's quite the conundrum; however, to avoid any traps I am going to say Viper is a male.
Viper's nose and mouth are mimicking the same style that is used for Luce, but not the other male Acrobaleno. (That is including Skull, who has the younger look about him.) So, if Viper is being depicted more like a female, and so far the Vongola-Funeral Wreaths-Gilgio Nero seem to have one girl in their main seven, maybe Viper was the Varia's main girl. It would make more sense if (s)he was not a part of the Acrobaleno as well, but, knowing that (s)he likes strawberry milk (pink stuff!), (s)he seems more feminine.
(Or maybe he was just gay with Bel, that would explain things.)

Hmm...
Well, I always assumed that Viper was male, but that last post made me think. Now I have no idea, so I'm just voting IT. But I'm going to look into it and see if I can dig up any info.
